SUMMARY:Cloud Native and Sustainable\, Reproducible Scientific Computing
DESCRIPTION:Scientific computing has been going through significant changes
\, adapting to new platforms and ways of working shared with industry doma
ins where requirements now match or exceed those of even the largest scien
tific collaborations. What before took tens of in house developers to devel
op and maintain large software stacks\, can now be done with significantly
less resources by joining large open communities of engineers from thousa
nds of organizations around the world. This session will cover some of the
technologies at the heart of this change\, and the impact they&#39\;re hav
ing in the daily life of scientists and researchers. It will describe how
containers\, kubernetes and cloud native tools have changed first traditio
nal IT with microservices while later also improving collaboration and rep
roducibility for scientific workloads\; how the cloud and open cloud nativ
e platforms have enabled businesses to embrace big data while cutting deca
des of technical debt on scientific platforms\; and how this is all helpin
g further democratize science\, expanding and easing the access to large c
 omputing resources.\nSpeakers: Ricardo Rocha\nTrack: Data & AI
